An apartment in a Jumeirah Lake Towers building is recorded in the Real Property Register as 120 sq m. RERA has approved a service charge rate of AED 16 per sq ft. What is the owner's annual service charge?
Article 25 of Law No. 6 of 2019 (in force 12 Oct 2026) charges each owner by the area of his unit as recorded in the Real Property Register, at the rate RERA approves. Convert first: 120 x 10.764 = 1,291.68 sq ft; then 1,291.68 x 16 = AED 20,666.88. AED 1,920.00 multiplies square metres by a per-square-foot rate, AED 178.37 divides by 10.764 instead of multiplying, and AED 19,200.00 rounds the conversion factor down to 10 sq ft per sq m (120 x 10 x 16). Source: Law No. (6) of 2019, Arts. 25 and 27 (in force 12 Oct 2026).
Applying a per-sq-ft rate to an area in square metres without converting at 10.764.
